研究テーマ

言語と、言語の背景にある人々の生活や文化に迫る

言語教育の役割は、自らの言葉で考え、表現できる力を養うことにあります。あらゆる言語の背景には、それを使う人々の生活や文化が存在することも忘れてはなりません。スミスは認知言語学と専門言語教育（ESP）を研究テーマとしています。天ヶ瀬は分子薬理学と専門言語教育(ESP)を研究テーマとしています。田邊はイギリスの医療・科学（化学）・文学・文化の関連、TOEICや異文化コミュニケーションの指導などを研究テーマとしています。

研究内容

[スミス朋子教授]（言語学・言語教育)
専門分野は言語学で、主に「意味」についての研究を行っています。そして、言語学の知識を生かしながら、専門言語教育（ESP）も実践しています。最近では、多義語を含む専門用語の習得を研究しています。
[天ヶ瀬葉子准教授]
専門分野は薬理学で、薬物による毒性発現時の遺伝子解析や認知能力老化の改善メカニズム解析などを行っていますが、科学者として薬剤師としての経験を活かし、専門語彙学習アプリの開発など科学・薬学英語教育研究も行っています。
[田邊久美子講師]
専門分野は主にイギリス文学・文化ですが、大学の授業では、これまでにTOEICなどの試験英語を含め様々な英語の授業を担当しています。近年では、主に15-19世紀イギリスの薬学・医療に関する研究、シェイクスピア研究とルネサンス期のイギリス文化・文学・芸術・医療・化学などの関連についても研究しています。2017年度から学内TOEIC実施・TOEICスコアアップ直前対策講座を担当し、学生の皆さんにTOEICを教えたり指導したりして就職対策支援を行っています。
