小野富三人

17年間の米国での研究生活では、ニューヨーク州立大学、フロリダ大学、NIHなどに在籍し、共同研究をつうじて医学生物学のさまざまな分野にかかわってきました。フロリダ大学、NIHではPIとして自分のラボを運営しましたが、そこでのプロジェクトとしては、小型の脊椎動物であるZebrafishを実験系として、主に神経筋接合部をモデルとしたシナプスの研究を行ってきました。具体的には、アセチルコリン受容体の変異体を解析する事により、シナプス形成において受容体が能動的な役割を果たすこと、筋細胞の種類(速筋、遅筋)に応じて受容体の性質や組成が異なることなどを明らかにしました。2014年に赴任した大阪医大では、意欲ある優秀なスタッフに恵まれ、今までの研究をさらに発展させると同時に、新規の分野にもチャレンジしてきました。2020年には、遅筋だけが運動神経の入力を受ける動物を世界で初めて作成して解析した仕事や、一般消化器外科との共同研究で消化管逆蠕動のメカニズムを初めて明らかにした仕事なども論文になり、大阪医科薬科大学での研究も形になり始めてきていると感じています。また研究と同時に学部の生理学の授業でも、学生に生理学の楽しさを伝えていきたいと思っています。臨床にすすむ学生であっても、生理学を理解することは将来の学習、研究、診療に必ず役にたつものと思います。
