標準肺活量の予測式

Baldwinの式
男性：VC(ml) = (27.63 - 0.112 * age ) * HT(cm)
女性：VC(ml) = (21.78 - 0.101 * age ) * HT(cm)
日本呼吸器学会(JRS)肺生理専門委員会の式（18歳以上）(2001)
男：VC(l) = 0.045 x HT(cm) - 0.023 * age - 2.258
女：VC(l) = 0.032 x HT(cm) - 0.018 * age - 1.178
現在でも広く使われているのはBaldwin式であり、
身体障害者障害程度等級表の呼吸機能障害の判定に使われる
index=FEV1/predictedVC*100
のPredictedVCもBaldwin式である。
しかしBaldwin式は測定体位が仰臥位であること、対象に８０歳以上の高齢者が含まれていないことで批判がある。
このため2001年に日本呼吸器学会肺生理専門委員会より日本人の正常予測式（１８歳以上）が発表された。
今後はＪＲＳの式を使うべきであるが、Baldwin式に比べて10-15%高い値となる点には注意すべきである。
