The MDRD study equation was developed in 1999 with the use of data from 1628 patients with chronic kidney disease. It estimates GFR adjusted for body-surface area.The estimating equation is

MDRD式の評価を行い、日本人に用いるべき係数を算出した。方法:248例の実測GFRをMDRD簡易式によるGFR推算値と比較し、推算誤差が最小になる係数を求めた。その後、268例の別症例を用い、係数の妥当性を検証した。係数0.881はGFRが30〜60ml/minの症例で正確度を高めるが、これより高GFRでは低く推算される。
